Besnard Lakes - "Because Tonight"

There is something about pedals and other doodads on guitars that intrigue me. Around the middle of this song, some pretty sweet stuff starts to happen.

Deerhunter has some great examples too. I'll share them sometime.

Girls - "Thee Oh So Protective One"

I sometimes forget how good this album is. Didn't care for their latest though. This particular song I like a lot, and it reminds me of Captain Beefheart's "Hot Dog Tropical Night" song with the crying trumpets.

And for reference... I won't be made if you don't listen to the whole thing, lol. But at least listen long enough to hear the crying trumpets!

Dawes - A little bit of Everything

This isn't the newest song in the world, but Dawes is growing on me - except the drummer.  He is not winning any cool awards.

Explosions in the Sky

Do you remember that time at an MLC talent show when a kid had a long introduction about his song and then it was just a guitar solo - no words, nothing?  This song was like that for me, except I loved this one.  Maybe today I was just in the right mood.  Everything about it was beautiful.

The Cribs - "Moving Pictures"

Le Loup - "Forgive Me"

Eef Barzelay - "Lose Big"

Said the Whale

These Canadians are doing it right.  This is a mock of "we are the world."

FridayRemix: "Lovesick" - Lindstrøm & Christabelle

Remixed by our dear friend, Mr. Kieren Hebden.

The Punch Brothers - "Just What I Needed" (Cars Cover)

Punch Brothers cover The Cars

The Onion has an arts and entertainment section called "The AV Club." They do a series each year where they ask bands to come in and cover a song in their offices. Sometimes they're really bad. I thought this one was pretty good.

Tanlines - "All of Me"

Youth Lagoon - "Daydream" (and concert review)

Pretty poor concert to be honest. The opening bands were a special kind of terrible. The YL kid himself got food poisoning from a hotdog in Chicago the night before (lol), and only played 5 songs. For $10 though it was worth it to say I saw him. At least he played an extended version of this song:

"Drive" Soundtrack

As recent viewers of Drive, Stephen and I thought we'd share the best of the soundtrack--which is fantastic.

LCD Soundsystem - "New York, I Love You

Old song, I know. I rediscovered it today, however, and decided to post it.

Youth Lagoon - "Montana"

I'm going to see this kid at Turner Hall tomorrow evening. I'm very excited. He's 22 and from the same childhood Pacific Northwest area as Isaac Brock. Special call out to the song "Montana" in honor of Stephen :)
