Friday Remix: Bonobo - "Pick Up"
Every Friday I'll post some sort of remix of something. I'm a big fan of exploring alternate, inspired variations of other works of art. It's how we learn.
The first is a Bonobo piece titled "Pick Up", remixed by Kieren Hebden. I thought you'd really dig those drums mid-song, Stephen!

New from Dntel (the "other" guy from Postal Service)
A new track just came out from Dntel, an electronic musician who is commonly called James Figurine as well. He was Ben Gibbard's partner for Postal Service. This is a little more British DJ-ish than what you'd expect from something like "We Will Become Silhouettes", but you can still hear sparkles of "Clark Gable" if you make a big enough leap.

Flaming Lips & Neon Indian - "Is David Bowie Dying?"
Thank you to Stephen and Alex for allowing me to author great music along side you all. Like you, I will be sharing things I listened to at some point during the day. But I hope to mix things up and share gems we all either forgot about or things from Left Field to freshen up your day. I will attempt to share a little background information as well per song.
With that, here's my first entry: "Is David Bowie Dying?" by a Flaming Lips and Neon Indian collaboration. It was a limited release you can't really find anywhere, but thankfully You Tube has it. It was released initially as mp3s on a flash stick...inside gummy skulls. I had a chance to see it live at Summerfest last year, though. Very interesting.

The Rentals - "Friends of P"
I'm posting this even though Matt Sharp ruined Weezer when he left the band.

Kid Cudi - "Pursuit of Happiness" (Live)
The Ratatat solo about 2/3 of the way through is pretty great.
The Shins - "Simple Song"
The Shins are coming out with a new CD, and this is the first single. The band members have changed a lot since a bunch of us saw them senior year at First Avenue. I was particularly saddened to see they dropped the guy that looked exactly like Ben Leyrer.

Said the Whale - Heavy Ceiling
Like most "groth-esque" music, I have no clue if this is new, but I liked this song when I heard it today.

Spoon - "Black Like Me"
Did anyone else get the newest Spoon album, "Transference?" I was kind of disappointed by it.
Bright Eyes Cover Tom Petty's Walls
I love this Petty song, and I think the Bright Eyes did a great job covering it
